Social media, as we know, is such a powerful tool. It allows us to share content, amongst many other things, but above all it allows us to connect with people all over the world. Lily and I met via Instagram. Immediately drawn to her minimalist style, she became amongst one of my favourite bloggers to follow. We began direct messaging and decided to convene and collaborate upon my visit to New York. I met Lily for lunch and we instantly clicked. We discussed our futures in fashion and blogging, and wandered the charming streets of SoHo where we captured some knockout photos together. Along the way we met a couple other bloggers, got stopped on the street by people wanting to know who we were wearing, and laughed about how our apartments were next door to each other and we had no idea, common what are the odds!!
Originally from California, Lily moved to New York to attend college. She started at Sarah Lawrence liberal arts college and later attended Parsons school of design where she took fashion marketing and design. Her experience ranged from editorial internships for Interview Magazine and Racked, experimenting with branding and marketing, and also interning as a stylist for Lady Gaga. Lily has been blogging for about three months now and focuses on basics and street style. Her wardrobe is a mix of contemporary pieces and vintage hand-me-downs from her mother and grandmother.
It is so uplifting when you meet people who have the same drive and goals as yourself. I think it's very important for people to motivate and encourage each other to be great and to follow their dreams. This was my first collaboration with a blogger and it was such a good learning experience. I will take it with me into my future endeavours and keep growing and learning. The best part of this collaboration was that I made a new friend along the way.
