I'm a big fan of monochome - I think anything in black and white is very chic and easy to mix and match with anything in my closet. Most people assume that summer time means you have to wear bright colors and bold prints. While I am not completely opposed to that, there are no rules to personal style.
Here, I wore this top I picked up at J. Crew in Minneapolis last month (another one of my favorite stores). It has the perfect length, which gives you the ability to hide a pair of shorts underneath it and give you the look of a shirt dress. I like to tuck in half the top and show off these leatherette shorts by Citizens of Humanity. They are super comfortable and stretchy giving a barley there feel, and are finished with a quintessential semi gloss shine.
The accessories for this look, I went with this Marc by Marc Jacobs bag that I purchased for myself a few years ago. It is still one of my favorite bags that I own and has a great amount of space to carry everything that I need, including my planner. The delicate silver bracelet i'm wearing was a gift given to me by my neice and nephew. It is engraved with the word "Titia" which means aunty in Portuguese. It is very special to me and I never take it off. The Heels are by Zara and unfortunately they do not carry this style anymore, but aren't they great!
